Oct 09: Traveller Enterprise and Employment
On 1st October Third Sector Forum will host a special one-day seminar in the Hilton Hotel on the Malahide Road, Dublin 13.
The Seminar, being run on behalf of Traveller representative group TravAct will focus on the Traveller economy and employment.
Over the past few years a variety of initiatives has been supported by the Department of Justice, FAS, Pobal and Councils that aim to increase the participation on Traveller entrepreneurs in the mainstream economy and entry into mainstream supported employment.
Local Authorities have played an increasingly important role in some areas through their support of directly employing Travellers and the funding of community groups working with Travellers.
The line up of speakers includes senior officials with FAS, Dublin City Council and the INOU and experts from the community sector and academia on Traveller economy.
Speakers Include:
- Kieran Cunningham - Dublin City Development Board
- Tom Cooney - Institute for Minority Entrepreneurship, DIT
- Martin Collins - Pavee Point
- Gerard Gasparro - FAS
- Brid O'Brien - INOU
- Killian Forde - TravAct
This seminar would be particularly useful to any Councillors on their LTACC or those interested in integration strategies for any minority groups.
The cost of the seminar is €75 which includes lunch and a delegate pack.
